It is with great anticipation and enthusiasm that I am writing to welcome you to the 2016-2017/5777 school year!

In my 20th year with The Leo Baeck Day School and my first year as Interim Principal of the South Campus, I am looking forward to a year of academic achievements and personal growth for all of our students. I have been devoted to this school and its mission since 1996. I began my career here as a classroom teacher, supervised the South Campus in its early years as Vice-Principal, and then moved into the library, where I have worked happily for the past 15 years. My role as the Lead Librarian has enabled me to get to know every child in the school. Relationships are paramount to me and they begin with the kids. I will continue to teach JK library so that I am able to form bonds with our newest, youngest students, as well. I am also a summer camp person, having been a senior staff member for several years at overnight camp. My life experience of working with children in a variety of settings, has given me a broad understanding of young people and their needs. I feel honoured to be in a position to inspire and be inspired by kids of all ages.

I became an educator because I love children. They motivate, surprise, and bring me joy daily. I can’t think of a better place to work than Leo Baeck, where I am able to make a positive impact on the lives of your children. It is my goal to ensure that our students are provided with the highest standards for academic achievement, in a caring and supportive school environment. The success of each and every child is fundamental and it is our mission that they finish this school year feeling great about their accomplishments. Children need love and they need limits. It is our job to teach and encourage our students to understand themselves, accept responsibility, and to think critically and creatively. We want them to be kind citizens of the world, who will contribute to their future in positive ways. I thank you for being our partners in making this year our best yet.
